Profil Zaufany: how to set up an electronic signature in Poland
Profil Zaufany (Trusted Profile) is a free electronic signature used in Poland to confirm your identity in public services. Without it most matters mean paperwork and visits in person; with it they take a few minutes on your phone.
What you need it for
- Applying for a CUKR residence card in the MOS portal.
- Applying for 800+ and other benefits through ZUS (PUE ZUS / eZUS).
- Filing your annual PIT tax return in e-Urząd Skarbowy.
- Booking doctor's appointments and seeing e-prescriptions in Internetowe Konto Pacjenta.
- Registering your address (zameldowanie) online, ordering certificates, using mObywatel.
What you will need
- A PESEL number.
- A Polish phone number — confirmation codes are sent to it.
- Your own email address.
Option 1: through your bank (fastest)
- Log in to online banking at the Polish bank where you have an account.
- Find the public services section — usually called “Usługi publiczne” or “e-Urząd”.
- Choose “Profil Zaufany” and confirm your details. The bank already knows who you are, so you do not have to go anywhere.
- Choose a login to use on pz.gov.pl — or simply keep logging in through your bank.
Option 2: through pz.gov.pl and an office visit
- On pz.gov.pl choose “Zarejestruj się” (register) and fill in the application.
- Within 14 days, go with your passport to a confirmation point: a urząd gminy, a ZUS branch or a tax office.
- Once confirmed, the profile is active immediately.
Option 3: together with your PESEL UKR
Ukrainian citizens often get Profil Zaufany set up during the same visit at which their PESEL is assigned. Ask the clerk — you only need a Polish phone number and an email address with you.
Do not forget the expiry date
Profil Zaufany is valid for three years. Renewing it online takes a minute, but nobody reminds you. The expiry date is shown after you log in to pz.gov.pl — set yourself a reminder.
