800+ for Ukrainians in Poland: rules since 2025 and how to apply

Updated · section Documents

800+ is a monthly benefit of 800 zł for every child under 18. Ukrainians in Poland receive it on the same terms as Poles, but since June 2025 two conditions apply to them: parents must work, and children must attend a Polish school or preschool.

Who can receive it

  • Parents (or guardians) with an active PESEL UKR status or a residence permit who live in Poland together with the child.
  • The child must also be in Poland and have a PESEL.
  • Parents must be economically active: employed, self-employed, or registered so that ZUS contributions are paid for them. The law provides exceptions — for example, for people with disabilities or those caring for a child with a disability.
  • A school-age child must attend a Polish school, and preschoolers for whom preschool is compulsory must attend preschool. Studying only at a Ukrainian online school does not meet this condition.

How to apply

  1. Log in to PUE ZUS (eZUS) — via Profil Zaufany or your bank. You can also apply in the mZUS app or through online banking.
  2. Choose the SW-U form (wniosek o świadczenie wychowawcze) — a Ukrainian version is available.
  3. Enter your and your children's details and add a Polish bank account number.
  4. Submit and watch for messages on PUE ZUS: the decision or a request for additional documents will appear there.

When to apply

The benefit is granted for a “period” from 1 June to 31 May of the following year. Applications for a new period are accepted from 1 February. If you apply by the end of April, you get the June payment without a break.

For a newborn, apply within three months of birth — the benefit is then paid from the date of birth.

What can stop the payments

  • Losing UKR status — for example, by leaving Poland for more than 30 days.
  • A break in work without ZUS contributions, if no exception applies to you.
  • The child stops attending a Polish school or preschool.
  • ZUS checks the conditions itself, using its own data. If something has changed, tell ZUS so you do not have to pay back what you received.

Frequently asked questions

How much is 800+?

800 zł a month for each child under 18, regardless of family income.

Do I have to apply every year?

Yes, for each new period — from 1 February. Applying on time keeps the payments going without a break from June.

Does work on an umowa zlecenie count?

Yes, if ZUS contributions are paid under the contract. Work on an umowa o dzieło without contributions usually does not meet the condition.
